Rilla Moran Woods and Agnes Bird Internship Awards

The National Federation of Democratic Women (NFDW) offers the “Rilla Moran Woods Internship Award” (Founder’s Award) to such a young woman. This award was established in honor of Rilla Woods, our first president, at the close of her presidency. The winner will have the opportunity to serve a month’s internship at the Democratic National Committee’s (DNC) headquarters. The Founder’s Award also provides the winner with a stipend of $3,000.
The purpose of the internship is to reward a young woman who has already evidenced an interest in Democratic politics at her local and state levels. The award will be presented to the winner at the 2014 NFDW Convention.
The applicant must meet the above requirements and endorsed by her local Democratic Women’s Club and the Tennessee Federation of Democratic Women (TFDW). Other endorsements enhance her application but are not a requirement. She must submit a letter of application detailing her academic standing, her political involvement, other interests and a 200 hundred word essay explaining why a month’s internship at the DNC will help her political or career ambitions.
The second place winner will receive the Agnes Bird Internship Award in the amount of $1,500.The internship is for two weeks in the Tennessee Party office or a Congressional District office and is arranged by the TFDW.
